Sunday Sketch Assignments

Yes, you have a lot of freedom, within some given constraints. All the assignments are already published (check out the assignments links in the menu).

Because of the method of assessment I use in this class, it is less important for me as the instructor than it is in more conventional class structures that all of you produce very similar writing so that my ranking of your work is a valid set of comparisons. And because you are publishing your work on your site, which is open to the public, I want you to be invested in putting up work that you care about and are invested in — if that means that you take the assignment in your own creative direction and do something unexpected with it, generally speaking that’s great as far as I’m concerned. That said, it still needs to be legible to me as responding to the assignment rather than looking like you just fundamentally misunderstood what I was asking you to do. Take some risks and follow your own intellect and creative interests, but pay attention to what I’m asking you to do and figure out what the key elements of the assignment are so that you fulfill those too. Does that make sense?
